2016 Wyoming Archery Mule Deer Whole Season

With each grueling step the 160 plus pound pack seemingly forces my feet through the mountain. The pack out is my bitter sweet end to my high-country mule deer hunt and my victory march, a sign that all of my hard work paid off. These are the moments I live for; bow in hand, heavy pack, and when possible, my son and my wife by my side…it doesn’t get much better.

My Bio

With each grueling step, the 160 plus pound pack seemingly forces my feet through the mountain. The pack out is bitter sweet - it signifies the end to my high-country mule deer hunt, but is also my victory march, a sign that all of my hard work paid off. These are the moments I live for; bow in hand, heavy pack, my son and my wife by my side…it doesn’t get much better. I am Zach Herold, a lifelong Wyoming resident. My 4 year old son Christopher is my world, and my beautiful wife Hannah is more than my better half. I am a hard core, DIY, public land hunter. I went on my first elk hunting trip at the age of two. I rode in the horse panyard on the way up the mountain and on top of the elk quarters on the way back down. Since that moment, my burning desire to hunt and be in the outdoors has turned into not only an obsession, but a lifestyle. I was introduced to archery at the age of 11 in 4-H club, and now I hunt solely with a bow because it “trips my trigger.” In 2016, I took up the challenge of self-filming my hunts with a DSLR camera, tripod, wireless mics, and second angle cameras. My wife and I are the podcast hosts for Archery Maniacs.  Tune in every week for action-packed shows in which we interview guests, tell stories, share archery tips and tactics, review gear, and simply have fun!
