Fall Fly Fishing and Kayak Workshop Sept. 12-13

Fly fishing is a wonderful activity. Couple this with a kayak or a paddle board and you have a true adventure. Southern Brookies will be offering a fly fishing and kayak instructional work shop Sept. 12-13. No experience is necessary.

Th fly fishing session on Saturday will include:
• Fly fishing terminology
• Caney Fork flies and basic entomology
• Roll cast and Basic cast instruction

This will be coupled with Kayak instruction including:
• Casting from a sitting position
• Paddle and rod management/deck management
• Basic kayak paddle strokes (specifically those helping with wind management)
• Re-entry of kayak from the water
• Basic boater/kayak safety tips

Saturday’s class will be located at Southern Brookies Fly Fishing School located on the Caney Fork River in Lancaster, Tennessee. Most of the instruction Saturday will be conducted on the casting pond located on the property. Overnight accommodations are provided in trout themed vintage campers located on the property

Sunday’s class will be on the Caney Fork River in the generation schedule allows. You will have the opportunity to test out the Jackson Coosa, Cuda, Big Tuna and SUPerFISHal (Stand Up Paddle Board.) In the case of high water, we will hold Sunday’s class on Center Hill Lake in a small protected cove.

This is an all inclusive class for $425. The cost includes:
Breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday.
Breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
Instructor fees
Use of Jackson kayak on Saturday and Sunday.
All necessary fly fishing and kayaking equipment.
Shuttle from the take out.
Lodging on Saturday night
