Growing up on a dairy farm in northeast PA, I think it goes without saying that I come from a family of hunters. I remember waking up at 3:30 to go milk cows with my dad before heading out into the woods. I was 12 years old when I got my first deer, and I still remember how proud I felt overhearing my dad tell his friends about it everywhere we went.
I hunted all through high school and here and there through college, but my reasoning was that I just enjoyed spending the time with my dad. I got out of it for a few years and then it wasn’t until becoming a part of The Outdoor Insiders that I really started getting into it for myself. My husband has always been a huge hunter so a big perk has been that it’s something he enjoys as well, but ultimately, I think it’s been the knowledge and community that I’ve gained here at OI that has really fueled my interest. I went archery hunting this past fall for the first time and got my first buck, then went to Ohio this spring and got my first turkey.
